Field Notes from the Cultural Apothecary

The Wise Giraffe

In a tranquil room, a couch rests against a wall that seems to open into another world. Through the patterned wallpaper, the African plains unfold - acacia trees standing tall against soft, distant hills.

Upon the couch sits a small giraffe, its neck gracefully extended, eyes bright with gentle composure. The scene feels both whimsical and contemplative - a quiet meeting of domestic calm and wild perspective.

The Wise Giraffe reminds us of its own quiet proverb: you don’t get any leaves unless you stick your neck out. Wisdom, it seems, grows at the edge of reach - where curiosity meets courage.

Lion and Roses

From a gilded mirror, a lion steps into the room - slow, assured, his gaze steady and unflinching. His paws rest upon a baroque daybed, where velvet meets shadow and the air trembles with quiet majesty.

Along the blue walls, crystal chandeliers shimmer like captured constellations, while roses bloom and climb, their fragrance softening the scene’s splendour. Between reflection and reality, the wild enters the civilised, and beauty meets its own reflection in courage.

Lion and Roses is a meditation on presence - the moment when power crosses the threshold and becomes grace.

The Midnight Guest

Beneath an acacia tree at the edge of the water, two armchairs and a table wait - an unlikely salon beneath the savanna sky. Cakes, flowers, and lanterns glow softly in the warm night air.

A small hippopotamus has joined the scene, curious and uninvited, yet perfectly at home. Here, wilderness and human comfort meet without ceremony - sharing sweetness, silence, and the gentle magic of coexistence.

Precious

In a quiet forest, where tree trunk rise like pillars of stillness, a delicate yellow sofa rests among wild roses. Upon it, a young deer has fallen asleep - unguarded, serene, as if civilization itself had learned to dream.

I’m working on a new series, exploring the fragile space where animals, emotion, and human presence meet. There’s so much I want to paint - I can hardly keep up with the ideas rushing in.

Each canvas feels like a small truce between worlds.
